Alberta PNP Fees Update

Fran Wipf • Apr 09, 2024

Starting April 2024, Alberta Immigration has increased the application fees payable when submitting an application to the AAIP Provincial Nominee Program.  These fees are paid by the applicant when submitting an application for Provincial Nomination, and are intended to cover the cost of processing the application to a decision.  The AAIP fees are paid per application, not per family member.  Fees are not refunded if the application is refused.  Successful applicants who are issued an Alberta Provincial Nomination Certificate are then able to apply for Permanent Residence to Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) and will need to pay applicable IRCC fees at the time of submitting their application.

Alberta PNP Fees Revised

The most popular AAIP programs have had their fees increase from $500 to $840.  This includes most of the streams that are utilized by workers in Alberta, including:

  • Alberta Opportunity Stream
  • Alberta Express Entry Stream, and
  • Alberta Rural Renewal Stream

The Alberta business stream application fees will remain at $3500 per application, but there is a new fee of $200 now payable when submitting an Express of Interest  for the 3 Entrepreneur Streams – Graduate Entrepreneur Stream, Foreign Graduate Entrepreneur Stream and the rural Entrepreneur Stream.

There are also several different types of administrative processes that applicants can request from Alberta, apart from the standard application process.  The fees for these services have increased from $100 to $150, including:

  • Request to extend Nomination Certificate
  • Request for a 204 (c) or 205(a) work permit support letter
  • Request for Business Performance Agreement changes

Requesting reconsideration of a refused Alberta PNP application will now cost $250.
